MIA...

Fri Apr 3, 2009, 6:36 AM
ok... i'm kinda been missing in action. i know and it gonna be that way for a while. eventhough i finally freed up my time after finishing Ti-girl. i going through some personal stuff. i kinda lost my day job a while back, and it's been so hard to even find something that would hold me over.

but even if my not saying much or posting... i am working. i coloring a comic for Chimaera Comics.

i've also managed to find a few other places to distribute my indie comic. working on that.

this sucks i finally got free up to be able to draw for meself and work on my own project and i can't. i mean i can but not with out feeling guilty or something because i should be looking for a real job.

until i get this fixed... later.

It's not any less real than any other job. Don't let it get you down.

I know how you feel man. I just spoke to my Mum today about getting a job because I can't live off drawing and she laughed at me saying "of course you can't". That really hurt. I wanted to scream at her for the lack of support.

No one gives me credit for my art except for people who don't care how much money I make. Everyone else is on my case about finding "A REAL JOB". twats.
:iconwestwolf270:
when i say even say the word art, my mom goes "coloring is not art." as if thats all i do. that bugs me.

people like to measure happiness and success by how much money you make or what you own. when i know regardless of what i buy i won't be happy.

i do what i've always dreamed of growing up despite how hard people say it was gonna be. thats enough for me. but not every one else i guess.

The way I see it, we have the potential to make more than the average person and enjoy what we do. It's a dream job, really.

Maybe they just don't believe they exist.

wadup wadup wadup?

how's it going? Have you checked out digitalwebbing.com? They have postings for paid artjobs, coloring, and inking. I also know of a publisher that I'm working with right now, the contract is paid as a % of sales. But I have his contact for you, bro!
:iconwestwolf270:
your note me the contact info.

but ya see it doesn't matter how many paying jobs i get, more even how much i make. working on comic isn't seen as a real job by most people.

it a real bummer!

what get me about most people is when your growing up your told you can be whatever you wanna be. then now it like oh no don't do that. you need chase money.

i know people who base their life, or what they want to study on what will make them more money. like you can buy happiness.

i rather be broke an doing what my heart tells me.

The important thing to remember, is it's these office type people that allow us to do our work. It's a bit ignorant to think that art isn't a good job because people are always looking for artists and they pay us big bucks to get the job done.

Most people who work and work and work just for the money miss out on life. They want a family, but their job demands more time or they want more money, so then they miss out on that. Or some people make so much money that they don't have any time to spend it at all.

The people who tell you you can be anything you want -but- that are just the ones who would rather you do a different job because they don't like the one you chose.

It makes me wonder, though, if they know how much a graphic designer gets paid. A concept artist on a movie or video game... what about the storyboard artists who line out their TV shows that they watch? Don't they realize that artists are all around us working and making money? It's impossible to create a company and not have a need for an artist.
